Return Policies
Return Policies
Return / Exchange Policy:
Please note that all sales in our online store are FINAL. Occasionally, we will make a one time courtesy exception on returns or exchanges for new customers, but we will not accept a return on any skin past 14 days or on leather that has been cut, mishandled, or damaged in any way. Any exception to our return policy is at the sole discretion of AMTAN with prior approval. Remember, we are a leather tannery, not a retail store or leather distributor, so our policies and prices reflect that.
For custom color orders, we do not offer returns, exchanges or refunds. ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
Order Cancellations From Customers:
For orders cancelled before shipping, there will be service charge of 2.5% to cover payment processing fees.
Order Cancellations By Amtan:
At AMTAN, we strive for accuracy and customer satisfaction in every aspect of our online store operations. However, we acknowledge that errors can occasionally occur. This policy outlines our approach to order cancellations in the event of such errors.
- Cancellation Due to Stock Unavailability:
From time to time, certain skins that are displayed as available on our website may actually be out of stock. This situation can arise due to a prior direct sale to a tannery client that has not yet been reflected on our online inventory. In these rare instances, we may need to cancel an order if the specific skin ordered is no longer available.
- Cancellation Due to Pricing Errors:
Occasionally, pricing mistakes may occur on our website, such as a skin being listed at a price of $0.00. While we make every effort to ensure accurate pricing, these errors can happen. If an order is placed based on an incorrect price, we reserve the right to cancel the order.
Procedure for Order Cancellation:
- In the event of either of the above scenarios, our team will promptly reach out to the affected client to inform them of the cancellation.
- A full refund will be issued for any payments made for the cancelled order.
- We will also endeavor to offer alternative options or assist in finding a suitable replacement for the unavailable skin, subject to availability.
Leather Care
Leather Care
ge is key to preserving the shape and finish of your alligator leather goods. Keep them in a cool, dry place, using padded hangers for garments and stuffing bags with tissue paper to maintain their form. Be mindful of the leather finish; while matte and millennium finishes offer more durability and water resistance, glazed finishes should not come into contact with water.
Handling Wet Leather: If your alligator leather item does get wet, pat the excess moisture with a soft, dry cloth and let it dry naturally, avoiding heat sources to speed up drying. Be cautious with hand creams and lotions, as they can darken the leather, especially when handling bags.
Exclusive Quality of American Tanning and Leather: Our alligator leather, known for its full aniline and natural finishes, showcases the material's intrinsic beauty and unique characteristics. With proper care, including the recommended use of Bickmore Exotic for conditioning, your alligator leather items will remain luxurious and robust, reflecting the quality craftsmanship of American Tanning and Leather.
Remember, the longevity of your alligator leather products heavily depends on regular cleaning, conditioning, and appropriate storage. Following these guidelines will ensure your items remain in top condition, embodying luxury and durability for many years.
Measuring & Grading
Measuring & Grading
Measuring
Alligator leather is measured by its width in centimeters, focusing specifically on the widest point across the belly. To ensure accuracy, the skin is laid flat and a ruler is placed horizontally from edge to edge,
excluding the outermost half bone. Measurements are precise, with partial centimeters rounded down—for example, a skin measuring 48.75 cm is recorded as
48 cm. This method is crucial in the crafting of luxury leather goods such as bags and footwear, where exact dimensions are key. The predominance of luxury bag manufacturers in Europe, where the metric system is standard, has established centimeters as the global industry norm. The width measurement is favored over length because it directly correlates to the necessary cut of the leather for producing high-quality, precise products.
Grading
We offer five grades of leather: 1, 1/2, 2/3, 3/4, and 4/5. Grade 1 represents the highest quality, featuring minimal natural defects, while Grade 4/5 is considered a reject due to more significant defects. The grading of our leather takes into account various types of defects including scars (both open and healed), marks from parasites (such as leeches), presence of bones or osteoderms, grain damage, skinning cuts, holes, and other defects that may occur during the tanning and finishing processes. Despite these variations, all grades of our leather are tanned to the same luxurious standard, ensuring our commitment to excellence is never compromised.
